AMK
Anthony M. King, better known as AMK, is one of my long-time friends from the cassette networking days. I’ve known him for over 20 years. I always loved AMK’s music, most of it based on extreme turntable manipulation. We’ve collaborated on several occasions over the years, some of our work together was released on a 1995 RRR cd titled “System-Music-End”. AMK’s turntable tactics, his unique way of creating looping, repetetive, abstract patterns was always inspiring to me. One of the first things I heard by AMK was a brilliant collaboration he did with Das of Big City Orchestra called “Floppy Night” created entirely from manipulating flexi disc’s. AMK is the godfather of a burgeoning community of artists in the Los Angeles area who are pushing the boundaries of turntable-noise artistry.
